Clamping technology, 3-corner tombstone with double vise
Pallet automation or pallet handling stands above all for high variance (high mix). By using universal pallet sizes, e.g. 320 x 320, 400 x 400, 500 x 500 mm, a wide variety of workpieces with different weights can be clamped. The pallets are pre-set on a set-up station and the workpieces are clamped manually.
Depending on the pallet size, the system can also be used for larger series with several clamping devices with

Pallet automation is particularly suitable for:
- chaotic production - complex or heavier workpieces
- small and medium series and batch sizes
- longer machining times (= longer machine running time)
- higher workpiece weight (handling weight = manufacturer-dependent)
- medium to high precision
Pallet handling enables a clamping process or fixture change that is parallel to machining time, as the pallet can be loaded and unloaded manually at the set-up station. The number of pallets can be flexibly selected and adapted to the workpiece runtime. In this way, the machine time is fully utilised, downtimes due to workpiece changes, fixture changes or tool changes are reduced to almost zero. To get the longest possible unmanned machine runtime with pallet automation, as many workpieces as possible should be clamped per pallet.
